Dedication Ceremony November 19, 2008 On November 19, 2008, a Dedication Ceremony was held for the opening of the new Franklin Fire Station in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Franklin Street Fire Station is located on the site of the former Cold Storage Warehouse. In December of 1999, six of Worcester’s bravest firefighters lost their lives fighting a fire at the Warehouse. The station was built to honor these brave men: Paul A. Brotherton Timothy P. Jackson Jeremiah M. Lucey James F. Lyons, III Joseph T. McGuirk Thomas E. Spencer Following the Presentation of Colors, the following individuals spoke to the attendees: Fire Chief Gerald A. Dio, Master of Ceremonies Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray City Manager Michael V. O’Brien Mayor Konstantina B. Lukes Senator Edward M. Augustus, Jr. Representative Vincent A. Pedone City Councilor Philip P. Palmieri Firefighter Frank Raffa, President Local 1009 Upon conclusion of the presentations, family members of the fallen fire fighters participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
